Projects
Allandale Mansion
Allandale Mansion was built in 1950 by Harvey and Ruth Brooks. The mansion is a classic example of Georgian architecture and its 500 acre grounds were landscaped by President Eisenhower's landscape architect. In 1969, it was willed to the city of Kingsport. The NTMGA volunteers help maintain the landscaping and the rose and wildflowers gardens on the grounds.

Healing Gardens
A healing garden is a garden in a healing setting designed to make patients and family members feel better. Studies have shown that natural settings lowers stress and improves the healing process. Surgical patients with views of nature had shorter post-operative stays, fewer
negative comments from nurses, took less pain medication and experienced fewer
minor post-operative complications than those with a view of a brick wall.
NTMGA maintains a healing garden for patients and their family members on the 2nd floor of Johnson City Medical Center near the ICU family waiting room. Work is in progress for a new garden at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport.

Warriors Path State Park
Warriors' Path State Park is a 950-acre area located on the shores of TVA's Patrick Henry lake on the Holston River in Kingsport. It provides access to the following activities: biking, boating, camping, fishing, golf, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, and swimming. The NETMGA and the Lions club in conjucntion will be developing a new garden area in the former disc golf area. A grant has been awarded to provide a sensory garden and a native plant garden designed around the book, The Witch, the Lion and the Wardrobe, by C. S. Lewis. The sensory garden will provide a center to stimualte the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and touch of nature. This garden will be designed specifically to be 'Positive About People with a Disability'. There will be audible venues throughout the walking path so that visitors can listen to portions of The Witch, the Lion and the Wardrobe. Since this is a new NETMGA project, volunteers are needed.
